What excellent timing for a dynamite second episode. As I was doing the final mixing I took a quick look in iTunes today to see if Mysterious Universe had been accepted into the store and low and behold there we are sitting at no.5 in the Science Category!

Lets see if the MU army can push us into the number one spot. Head over to your country’s iTunes store, subscribe to Mysterious Universe (unsubscribe and then re-subscribe to push us up the list), give us a nice review, and then download this juicy new episode.

Hey guys, just finished listening to the show, it was great. A big thanks for the entertainment.

I just wanted to two things you mentioned on 202. Perhaps the shows were not 'perfect' but both 201 and 202 are far from 'rusty starts'. Both Aaron (sp?) and Ben are doing a great job. While Aaron is a new voice and the back and forth is different from the original MU it is still equally enjoyable, in fact I think it is an improvement.

Entertaining review of entertaining stories and of course some good tunes.

Also, I don't care if the show has a schedule or not. I'm just happy its back.

    Take care guys!

I tend to agree. I was thinking of starting a petition for Apple to create another category, or at least a sub category, for shows like ours. I know the Science podcasters would sign it. It must get frustrating to see us up there at the top.

But for now where else would we go? We aren't Religion or Spirituality, we aren't Technology, and we aren't really Lifestyle either. What category would we be under if not Science?

I agree Science is not quite the category for Mysterious Universe, but 'parascience' isn't quite accurate as MU does glean science publications and releases as well as the paranormal, fortean and such.

There has to be another category with an apt name, but what?

In the meantime, no matter the category, this podcast belongs on every iPod and MP3 player in the universe – imho, that is… :-)

Is MU going to be a free podcast from now on or is it going to be like the previous season where we paid a small fee for a subscription?

  13. Posted September 9, 2009 at 12:25 am | Permalink

They could create a 'Unusual & Enigmatic' category maybe…

One of the best produced podcasts out there. Rusty you say? pffff…
Also, no offense Ben (:-P) , I like the new format better, the back and forth dialogue between Ben/Aaron thing works really nicely. Keep the good work.

    Another great episode.

Love the UFO traffic report.. great idea.

I have to agree that I think the dialog between Ben/Aaron is a big step forward…

I also like that Aaron is a science nerd, brings another dimention to the universe.

Another poster commented that he missed the forums, from the last website.

I have to agree..the forums where really great..it was a real sense of mysterious univese bonding going on there, I really missed that when MU went away.

I missed/still miss those so much. BUT… there were parts at the end I do not want to see come back and spoil things. Tighter moderating maybe? But done by who? and what to assess for standards?

  33. Posted September 10, 2009 at 12:44 pm | Permalink

MU could have a dedicated moderator that enforces an 'on-topic' rule.

e.g. Personal attacks (on anyone), trolling/flaming, general abuse should be zero tolerance.
Understandably there are a lot of varying opinions and personalities in the community and allowing for right-of-reply while still following the above rules will be a tough thing to moderate.
I can imagine a lot of heated debates, and a moderator will need to work hard to allow as much constructive debate as possible while protecting users (and MU) from abuse.

There were some great topics on the old forums and it would be great to have that back!

It's great to have you back. Really missed MU over the past year. Yours is the one paranormal- related podcast that simply entertains/informs and I enjoy listening on my way to work. Please keep up the terrific job. The co-host is terrific as well. Thanks, Benjamin!

im not sure if im doing my itunes right. I had the same link as i had from way back when, and i had the premium link too, i just left them there in my list. If i update the main link, i get episode 201 and 202 just fine. Then I clicked subscribe on it and i dont see any errors. Is this the same feed that bumps you guys in the ratings? Do i need to get the new link? The premium doesnt update anymore, it shows MU special – david icke as the last episode. Will the premium be working again one day? Am i being impatient?
