The Triangle UFO is interesting, but I think if its real, that it is a formation, not a single ship. The reason for this is that you can see stars pass through the shape, and the shape does not block the light. Therefore it is either three separate lights, or the ship has a cloaking device.

I think that the “bar” above the alien is its reflection from a mirror on the door.

    @Triangle UFO

Weather balloons fly very high up in the atmosphere and at very steady and fast speeds. It is highly likely that that is what it is.

One of the presenters said “it can't be a chinese lantern”. Well your probably right. An object that small wouldn't be able to get that high and have enough fuel to fly for that long. It was most likely a set of 3 weather balloons set off in unison. It would also explain why they faded out at similar times. The fact that they faded out is important I think. If they had zipped away or winked out instantly, we might have something to talk about. But because they faded, and this is what you would expect from weather balloons running out of fuel, it is likely that they are not alien space craft in formation.

Great show. Always down-to-earth presentation, challenging and amazing production values. I am thoroughly enjoying the show. You touched upon an interesting topic: as technology takes over more and more of our lives, will we wind up as we are pictured in so many Scifi stories with frail small bodies and enormous heads to carry our super developed brains? Could this have happened to our alien visitors which would explain their physical appearance? Fun things to speculate on.

I'm curious as to why weather balloons would be lit. Does anyone know of any weather balloons that contain lights and are launched in this kind of formation? Most of the pics I've seen of a group of weather balloons show them launched as a cluster.

Man I gave up trying to lie down, and listen to this. The triangle ships certainly are interesting. I also find the grey video interesting. I am almost sure that it is some sort of puppet. If you look above it, there is like a towel rack? that moves with it.

I dunno about that alien. I find it interesting that the video clip offered has it standing there when it begins. Though whatever it is appears to move a little during the clip, I think I would like to see more of the video to see when it “arrives”.

You raise a good point. Weather balloons are used to measure all sorts of things. I am not sure if a lit fuel would effect the instruments on the balloon, but that being said, if you wanted a balloon to be up in the upper atmosphere for a long time then using lit fuel would be the way to do it.

The formation is less of a red flag for me. Obviously light weight objects move around in the atmosphere. They may have just moved into a triangular formation by pure fluke. It really isn't that unlikely, seeing as there is 3 “balloons”, and what shape do they make if they are in formation? A triangle.

That being said, I am not 100% sure if weather balloons use lit fuel, but it isn't far fetched. I would be interested to see if I, or someone else, can find out if balloons use lit fuel.

chinese lantern. just thought it was worth mentioning. we've had chinese lanterns and they DID stay in formation – to an amazing degree. i was very surprised as we were letting them of a few minutes apart – they went up very quickly and them seemed to settle into an area of the sky and then drifted gently together. they only lasted about 5 mins max tho. then they flicker and go out

Actually there could be a way for them to weather balloons to be lit like that. Remember the Earth is round so the higher altitude your at the later the sun sets. So depending on what local time it is and how high they are the balloons might still be reflecting sunlight. Then the fading out could just be them crossing into nighttime (which makes sense since they fade out one at a time).

Another possibility is that they could be satellites flying in “close” formation. As an example my school launched a pair of satellites into orbit to study close formation flight. Although you wouldn't be able to see them since they were micro-satellites its possible that these three are part of some other experiment or flight formation.

Or they could be UFO's :P

Modern man IS a wimp! What do kids these days do for entertainment? Play video games and eat potato chips. What did they used to do even just a very few decades ago? Go outside, play baseball… Pretty much prevented themselves from atrophying…. While obvious, the data on running speeds was pretty fascinating! I would kind of like to pit a Spartan soldier against a modern man to prove this point. That would be a pretty great visual.

Good reply. This is also possible. It did run through my head that they could be lit by the sun. Only I am not sure how high up they are, and there is pretty much no way to tell!

What I find odd about that video is that if you look above the “alien” you see a dark vertical smudge. If you watch that smudge carefully it moves at the exact same speed and distance that the “alien” moves. Now the smudge is moving at the same rate as the door so the the same can be said about the alien. The head of the object also appears to be right at the height of a door handle. My guess would be that this is just a some cloths on the door handle combined with tricks or shadow and light to give it a really freaky outline.

Regardless of what it may or may not be, I am creeped out. I can stomach the thought of aliens, ETs, spirits, what have you just out and about but there is something so creepy and violating when they are allegedly in the home. Just last night I woke up in the middle of the night and was making my way into the bathroom and couldn't turn on any lights because I didn't want to wake up my fiance or the dogs and I kept thinking, “PLEASE don't let me see any grays PLEEAASSEEE!!” It was eerie. And the face in that particular link… ugh. Even if it turns out to be a manip it still creeps me out. I'll admit I scare easily but this is just fuels my things-that-go-bump-in-the-night jitters!

    Well…

Here is a lit weather balloon at night. I'm no weather balloon expert, but the size, shape, and light look pretty similar to the triangle formation video. Though in this one, it behaves a lot more like a balloon would and in the triangle video they move in a much more linear path. Maybe they were… tied together or something and that explains the perfect formation. (Why would you tie them together? I have no idea.) Buuuut… I don't know. Like I said, I know about as much about weather balloons as I do about astrophysics. Which is sadly not a lot. :(

In the show you guys mention that there is a black bar above the aliens head in the video above, suggesting that it's a puppet. That is actually a distortion of the video… If you look closely the entire top of the video is flipped and stretched, which is a little strange but these things happen often with low quality videos. Great show by the way!

I'd still like to see more footage before I officially stamp it as debunked or what have you for myself, but it is a little bit strange that the smudge moves at the same time as this figure does.

Yes, everything above a certain point is a refection, and upsidedown. This video was taken by pointing a video camera at a fisheye corner mirror mounted on the wall. So that's probably why.

So when the “thing” moves, so does the reflection above it. It's not a hand of someone.

You can also see that the curtains on the window in the middle are mirrored.

The other so called “alien home invasion” footage is sad to say the least. it consists of lights flashing and the guy in bed with a torch. (the lights flashing is a strobe light he admits to putting in his room). The main thing he wanted to get across was the sound, which consists of metallic clangs and a throbbing noise. All of which could easily be faked. Very uninspiring.

Ive always been interested in the paranormal stories ive heard in the past. never had anything major happen to me except for the first few months of my relationship with my girlfriend. She told me about a ghost she believes hangs around her mothers house. Not being in any significant close encounters with ghosts before i really didnt think much of it. Untill one day we decided to have a kiss in the kitchen when suddenly the exhaust fan fell on my head. My girlfriend had a good laugh and i thought well not a big deal. Then when i screwed the fan cover back into place i realized, wow, this didnt unscrew itself. Lets just say since ive been with Carissa ive experienced alot more unusual things. Love the show, we listen to it everyweek on the ipod together. There really are alot of unusual stories outthere!! Some true maybe, and some great for a laugh. I also like the fact you both dont believe in everything you hear. Keep up the good work. The truth is out there!!

Assuming that reports of flying craft that are 1000 feet or more in diameter are accurate the question arises of where do you build such a monstrous craft? What sort of assembly area is required and how many workers? Just the logistics of moving all those materials and/or preassembled components (like Boeing uses) is staggering. If these craft are real, which seems more and more likely, they almost certainly aren't terrestrial in origin.

I listened to this pod cast last night as I was driving from another city after taking my 15 yr old daughter shopping. I had my headphones, and she was listening to her ipod via headphones (in both ears). As we were approaching home, I starting thinking about how she would react if we saw something scary in the air or along the side of the road. Just as I was processing that thought, she removed her headphones, and asked “is bigfoot real? I've always wondered.”. Her question/the timing of her question really freaked me out.
It's not the first time that we shared thoughts at the same time, but this time it was so much more striking and confirming that the two of us have a “connection”.

    Great episode guys.

I got thinking about the LHC. I have seen this story about the collider everywhere but I can't like Ben make heads or tails of it.

Just how does a time ripple destroy a massive machine? does someone come back and pull the plug on the machine?

Or do these people actually believe god is messing with their machine?

Concerning the mysterious Segmenting Snake-Like Creature Reported On Pennsylvania Roadway…

Being a skeptic, here's my explanation: the witness saw a group of escaped circus rats on roller skates doing their parade… ;-)

Just kidding… Great show guys, keep up the good work!

That alien invasion, looks strange, but I think it might be a puppet too.

Alien Invasion is totally a puppet… Every time the “being” moves that solid black bar above it moves as well… This is nothing more than someone pulling a hoax, with a bad camera and poor quality on purpose!

I recently went on a field trip and talked to a scientist from the particle accelerator in UBC called Triumf, and he said it's no more possible for a black hole to appear in our atmosphere than it is in the small testing areas. So if it hasn't happened yet, pretty sure we're safe. He said some biologist in Hawaii came up with the idea, and it can easily be proved wrong, but it all has to do with math and if you don't understand the numbers, its hard to put it other ways.

There won't be a black hole. Steven hawking wrote a book mentioning if it did happen it would be so small that it would “evaporate”, which I guess means it would decompose faster than it would be strong enough to suck anything in it.

Anyway, that just bothered me. I hate to see people worry.

With regard to The Triangle UFO footage, balloons and chinese lanterns, I feel are not a reasonable explanation. At all altitudes, there are air currents that would cause the 'Light points” to move closer together or farther apart without a rigid structure to keep them equa-distant. From my perspective, the Triangle UFO appears to be space junk. My reasoning is that as the “triangle” passes, stars can be seen through it. Space junk in low orbit would retain their relative position as they passed over.

do ANY weather balloons use fuel? all the ones i've seen are helium filled (I presumed).
Not sure what people are thinking of here!
