It's a shame that the government can't see the difference between panic over an imminent attack, no matter if it is from an alien or a Russian and a simple visitation. I think if the 1938 radio broadcast were called “An Afternoon Cup of Tea with Mr. Martian: An AM Radio Special” then most people would not have run screaming into the streets. Go tell anyone that trusts you they're about to die and of course they get upset. If the government really is afraid of a mass panic, then they must know the aliens are up to no good. We can only hope Dr. Daniel Jackson figures out their plan in time…
