Been there done that at age 14 but I stood my ground and all I had was a 22rimfire and the large creature cracking and shaking saplings while crashing thru the trees and brush was just a large buck Deer. If a Magnum 12 Gage was not enough equalizer for you perhaps you should have tried a squad of Marines or hired a crew from Blackwater. I only live a couple states over in AL but haven't quite made it that far into S Carolina. There's also a Lizard Man that's been sighted in Lacrosse, WI since in mid-90s. Linda Godfrey makes mention of it in her book "Hunting The American Werewolf" (2006).
