Buried alive! Years ago when Believe it or Not was on the air, I built a ‘Safety Coffin’ for the show. This particular contraption was a bell system that went down to the coffin so that if the presumed dead woke up they could ring it to let someone know. These devices were first made in the late 1700s. I’m sure that now you’re not going to wake up with Formaldehyde running through your veins.

As for Paul Ekman, I did a fairly extensive study of his abilities and the attempt to teach his methods a while back. He seems to be the only one that can read faces successfully. Given pictures of groups of native tribes he can tell which ones are cannibals and which ones are not. Evidently he’s self taught and spent a lot of time perfecting his technique. When they tried to set up a system for teaching his methods the students fell way short of Paul’s abilities, in other words they couldn’t perform. But then … you know … Hollywood.

The guy that was buried alive and then dug out by grave robbers was probably stuck in a state between out of body experience and normal state. I’ve come to this conlusion because he says that he heard noise in his ears, some kind of buzz, and that’s exactly what can be heard when inducing in OBE.
I had an OBE and paralyzes state two times in my life, but fortunatley it lasted just about 20 min. It is the most teriffiyng experience one can have. I remember I was afraid never to snap out of the paralyzes. I also remember my senses were still sharp, i felt my pillow, and it was itching me but i couldn’t do anything about it. I had my eyes shut but i was aware of my soroundings.

When i had an OBE some 5 years ago, i immediately wrote everything i experienced. As soon as i translate it to english i will send it to you guys.

The man who was “buried alive” had many symptoms that fall in line with Guillain-Barre Syndrome, a temporary whole body paralysis often caused by other infections. I had a friend in childhood who experienced whole body paralysis for almost a week, and her story is similar to this man’s, except for the being buried alive part.

I gotta say that this episode has some of the most chill music ever. Mad props.
