For our final show of 2011, author and journalist Philip Coppens joins us to ask ‘The Ancient Alien Question‘.

With substantial proof in hand that our ancestors were far more technologically advanced than currently accepted, Coppens lays out the best evidence that some ancient cultures had interactions with non-human intelligences.

    Re: panspermia
Evidence (or support) for panspermia is not evidence for ancient aliens. At most, it makes the hypothesis of interbreeding a smidgen more plausible. A very tiny smidgen. Unless by panspermia the author means wholesale transplanting of full biosystems from one world to another. Just to have the elements of DNA wafting down to the proto-Earth and having them evolve into us is entirely different from ancient aliens. Even for the interbreeding, look at current earthly species and genera; they don’t interbreed after evolving together in different directions. To have species that have evolved separately in different environments be able to interbreed requires rather stronger interaction than just primordial seeding.

    Re: jet engine placement
What is the author waffling about when claiming that there are not aeroplanes with the jet engine inside the body of the aircraft? Since I don’t know when, very very early on, when the first jet fighter prototypes were being developed, they have had their engines inside the fuselage. Only commercial freight/passanger aircraft have external engines, all jet fighters I know of have their engines in the body. And he claims these “engineers” were ignorant of this? Hoo boy.

Intriguing, interesting, provocative, as always. Have a peaceful aphelion season, guys.

I enjoyed the discussion on archeological dogma. I’m old
enough to remember being taught that Columbus discovered America. I also
remember the virulent attacks that were made when evidence of evidence of
Viking Settlements first started appearing. Needless to say Columbus was not
    first.

Recently, this year, Israeli scientist Dan Shechtman won the
Nobel Prize in chemistry. What he discovered was a new crystalline structure
that seemed to violate the laws of nature. He spent years in virtual academic exile
because the scientific community was so resistant to the possibility of his
    discovery.

Mainstream academics do some wonderful work but apparently
only if it falls within their comfortable frame of reference. It appears that
if not for the occasional “Crackpot” new discovery would be in short supply.
