The Sixth Sense: Aquatic Ancestors Had Electroreceptive Abilities

Oct 14th in Bizarre & Natural World by

In the field of psychic research, there has been long consideration given to the idea of a “sixth sense,” which might constitute an ability to perceive information about people and objects that seems to transcend our general understanding of space-time. On the other hand, those claiming to have actual intuitive abilities sometimes contest this notion of a so-called “sixth sense” altogether.

Robert Cracknell, a man heralded as “Britain’s leading psychic detective” for his numerous exploits in solving murders and disappearances with his intuition alone, has often described such a gift as the result of using the five senses in ways that others don’t; in other words, honing one’s natural abilities in a way that allows the known senses to become sharpened, and thus more sensitive to subtleties that the average person might overlook (hence the often-used term “extra-sensory perception”).

Goat-Man Terror!

Oct 12th in Cryptozoology by

I’m sometimes asked, what’s the weirdest thing I’ve ever investigated. Well, answering that question is no easy task, as there have been quite a few of them! But, without doubt, one of the strangest is that of the saga of the Goat-Man of Lake Worth, Texas – which is situated only a short drive from where  I live. In the very early hours of one particularly fateful morning in the hot and sticky summer of 1969, six petrified residents of the Texan city of Fort Worth raced for the safety of their local police-station, and related a controversial and amazing story.

John Reichart, his wife, and two other couples were parked at Lake Worth – and, yes, it was indeed at the stroke of midnight – when a truly vile and monstrous-looking creature came storming out of the thick branches of a large, nearby tree. Reportedly covered in a coat that seemed to be comprised of both scales and fur, it slammed with a crashing bang onto the hood of the Reichart’s car and even tried to grab hold of the not-surprisingly-terrified Mrs. Reichart, before racing off into the pitch-black night and the camouflage of the dense, surrounding trees. The solitary evidence of its dark and foreboding presence was a deep, foot-and-a-half-long scratch along the side of the Reichart’s vehicle.

A Brief Slip in Time

Oct 12th in Bizarre by

Brilliant sunlight bathed the northeast Illinois afternoon in summer as Connie Richard’s boyfriend drove toward the Chicago-area town of Antioch where he lived. Richard lived in a neighboring town.

“We were traveling on a road I’d never been on before,” Richard said. “I had no idea where we were as it wasn’t the usual way I would have taken.”

At one point they drove in silence, all but the radio, enjoying the breeze blowing through the truck’s cab. That’s when Richard noticed the house.

“To my right we approached a two-story white farm house,” she said. “On the east side was the driveway and on the other side of that was a pond and beyond that was a barn.”

Cattails grew from the banks of the pond, ending at a spot of gravel on the opposite side of the road. A black and red crane on treads sat on the gravel, the long boom raising high into the air.

Into the Matrix: Artificial Intelligence, Future Humanity and the UFO Enigma

Oct 11th in Conspiracy & UFO Phenomenon by

The theories involving what, exactly, may exist behind the UFO mystery are many and varied. On one hand, we have the popular notion that UFO craft represent alien beings from outer space. On another, we see there are the skeptically-minded observers of this phenomenon that believe we are dealing entirely with a variety of man-made technology, designed by the hands of humans like you or I, and kept away from general public (or even a majority of government) knowledge.

Still others believe that UFOs represent extra-dimensional physical anomalies, or some kind of meta-terrestrial intelligence that is capable of intersecting with our reality in quick bursts, much to the terror and fascination of its Earthly observers.

Wide and open as the number of possibilities for UFO origin remains, it is likely that, in the broader sense, the summation of the phenomenon we call UFOs is comprised of a combination of all these things. Much the same, there may be as-yet-unfathomable explanations that would form the basis for a number of strange things observed in our reality. One of these involves the manipulation of our surroundings by intelligence that seems to abide by physical laws vastly different from ours; but what is the possibly that such intelligence might nonetheless be related very closely to us… or even exist as some strange extension of humanity itself?

Monstrous Statistics!

Oct 9th in Cryptozoology by

Just recently, over at my Cryptozoology-themed blog, There’s Something in the Woods, I ran a poll asking people for their views and opinions on the controversy surrounding Bigfoot. Was it an unknown animal? A relic population of the presumed long-extinct monster-ape known as Gigantopithecus? A paranormal entity? Or, merely a myth of now-stratospheric proportions?

Well, the votes were  nearly as intriguing as the Bigfoot puzzle itself! And this got me thinking: what do the Fortean and cryptozoological communities actually think of the legendary hairy monster of the dark and sprawling forests of North America? Let’s take a look. Some of the results may surprise you…
