Witness Films Several “Orange Orb” UFOs over Chicago, Illinois

Sep 7th in UFO Phenomenon by

A resident of Forest Park, Illinois, claims that he managed to film a series of anomalous, orange orbs hovering in the night sky on August 29, while sky watching in his back yard. A report filed with the U.S. Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), an organization that gathers reports and conducts scientific investigations regarding UFO sightings, detailed the encounter on August 30. The witness claimed in the commentary provided that while watching the night sky on the evening in question, occurring at approximately 8:30 PM, he managed to observe a strange, orange ball of light in the sky. Described as a “dull orange orb,” the object could be seen flying in the distance, headed in the direction of the nearby Chicago metro.

Anticipating that another light might appear, the witness went inside, retrieving a video camera in time to film two similar objects, appearing at 8:40 and 8:45 PM respectively.

“None of the Orbs that flew over had the required FAA rotating beacon lights,” the witness said. “I have been watching the skies over Chicago for a few years now and have seen many types of craft of various shape size and color,” he notes, while admitting that similar dull-orange orbs have appeared in the past. The objects in question headed South East, and disappeared from view while headed over nearby Chicago.

Monsters and Men in Black

Sep 4th in Cryptozoology & UFO Phenomenon by

What do you do when faced with a story that is not just downright bizarre, but that blends issues relative to both Ufology and Cryptozoology into the mix? Well, I know what some researchers do (because they’ve told me!): they ignore them, largely because such reports don’t fall into the nice, relaxed, comfort zones they have carefully cultivated. Fortunately, I have no need nor desire for comfort zones, and I see no reason at all why we should self-enforce rigid belief-systems on phenomena we’re still trying to grasp. So, with that said, read on…

In the summer of 1968, a man named Alistair Baxter – who had a lifelong interest in tales and legends of lake monsters and sea serpents – traveled to Loch Ness, Scotland and spent nine weeks armed with a camera and binoculars, while quietly and carefully monitoring the loch for any unusual activity of the beastly variety.

Baxter never did see the elusive creatures of Loch Ness, but he did speak with numerous people who had seen them. And, after being at the loch-side almost constantly for five weeks, a decidedly unusual event occurred. Baxter was awoken in the middle of the night by a curious humming sound that was emanating from a bright, small, ball of light about the size of a football that – at a height of around fifteen feet from the ground – was slowly and carefully making its way through the surrounding trees that enveloped Baxter’s modestly sized tent.

Suddenly, and without any warning, the ball of light shot into the sky to a height of several hundred feet and hovered in deathly silence over the still waters of Loch Ness. For reasons that Baxter was at a loss to explain, he felt an overwhelming urge to go back to sleep and the next thing he knew it was daybreak. But the strangeness had barely begun.

Stephen King and the Mold from Hell!

Sep 2nd in Bizarre & Featured & Modern Mysteries by

Much like the creeping, iridescent, meteor mold that consumed everything it came into contact with in Stephen King and George Romero’s E.C. comics inspired horror omnibus “Creepshow,” this all too real tale of a simple farming family who was beset upon by a nefarious force of nature that stole from them their home and, according to their daughter, years of their lives, might have been ripped from the tattered, monster infested pages of a classic 50’s horror comic.

Mold — with the exception a handful specialized scientists, I don’t know anyone who likes the stuff. It’s nasty, fuzzy, invasive and at this very moment it’s lurking in some dark corner of your home ready to creep out. Any bachelor (or former bachelor) knows what kind of horrible science experiments unwashed dishes can evolve into and almost everyone has encountered the kinds of transformations that an unattended food dish can undergo in the back of a refrigerator, but as horrible as these sporadic fungal encounters might be… things can get worse… much worse. Would People Today Recognize the Humans of Tomorrow?

Sep 2nd in Science & Technology by

If one thing above all others can be counted on, it is this: the world as we know it will cease to exist in the very near future.

This, however, shouldn’t be interpreted to mean that the world is going to end. Doomsday scenarios involving mass-extinction, death and suffering, widespread famine, oceans drying up, or asteroids slamming into the Earth are, while very popular, far less likely than our eventual survival as a species. But while life on Earth will almost certainly continue on, it can’t be argued that the coming years will likely bring a number of radical changes, especially in the realms of computer science and nanotechnology. Innovations in these and related fields will not only become the foundation for future technological advancement, but they will  also serve as a platform upon which new emerging technologies will be developed.

Thus, life as we know it presently here on Earth will no longer exist; it will simply be replaced by a very different kind of organism that incorporates highly advanced technologies that would seem almost “magical” in the eye of modern man. It seems hard to fathom for us today, and guessing accurately at what changes can be expected–as well as what kinds of technological innovations today could hint at them already–is a different matter entirely. So is there any reliable, empirical data that helps with this, and if so, how can it determine what the future of humankind will be like?

Big Cats in British Files

Sep 1st in Cryptozoology by

During the early part of 1998, the British Government’s House of Commons held a fascinating and arguably near-unique debate on the existence – or otherwise – of a particular breed of mystery animal that is widely rumored to inhabit the confines of the British Isles: the so-called Alien Big Cats, or ABCs, as they have become infamously known.

It scarcely needs mentioning that Britain is not home to an indigenous species of large cat. Nevertheless, for decades amazing stories have circulated from all across the nation of sightings of large, predatory cats that savagely feed on both livestock and wild animals and that terrify, intrigue and amaze the local populace in the process.

As history has demonstrated, there now exists a very large and credible body of data in support of the notion that the British Isles do have within their midst a healthy and thriving population of presently unidentified large cats – such as the infamous Beast of Bodmin and the Beast of Exmoor that so hysterically dominated the nation’s newspapers back in the early-to-mid 1980s.

But let us now turn our attentions to what can be determined at an official level about the puzzle.
