The many theories about aircraft contrails and their sinister cousins the “chemtrails” usually involve their contents. This one has an additional “twist.” A contrail spotted over Hampshire in England this week has an odd detour in it that appears to have been made by a pilot who was preoccupied at the time. Preoccupied with what? Was there contact with a UFO that was photographed over Portsmouth less than a week before?
Let’s start with the contrail. Florence Lehmann spotted it as she left her home in Southsea at about 7.20 am on September 22nd. Lehmann says it looks like the pilot “sneezed or fell asleep.” She doesn’t believe the contrail was contorted by wind.
There was no wind this morning and the plane actually moved trajectory.
A spokesperson for Nats, the air traffic control company responsible for the airspace over Hampshire, was no help.
Unfortunately Nats has no knowledge of the purpose of any given flight and we do not identify individual aircraft to members of the public.
No other agencies offered any explanations. Lehmenn suggested it might be related to a UFO reported over nearby Portsmouth on September 17th. Lewis Rogers took a picture of it and had this to say:
I was the only one who saw it who was quick enough to take the picture. I definitely believe in UFOs. I often look up at the sky in the evening wondering if there is anything or anyone else out there.
Johnny Blackwell of Southsea also saw the object.
It was a grey, disc-like shape. I don’t know much about military craft, but this was very fast-moving.
Laura Young, spokesperson for Met Office, the British weather service, said this about the picture.
After looking at the images, I can say the object is nothing to do with the weather. It is not meteorological and is not a cloud.
The closeness of the timeframes and areas suggests the events could be related. What caused the contrail’s pilot to go off course? Was it UFO-related or did he get a whiff of his own chemtrail? Lewis Rogers is an animation director but, if his UFO photo is a fake, what about the other witnesses?
The airspace over Hampshire and Portsmouth will be under close scrutiny from now on.
