Lizzie Borden House Hiring Paranormal Investigator

Did you lose your job during the pandemic? Are you looking to do something new that’s fun and exciting (or at least sounds like it is)? Might you be a paranormal investigator or ghost hunter seeking steady work? Do you live in Fall River, Massachusetts, or interesting in moving there? Then the Lizzie Borden House is looking for you!

Lizzie Borden

“We are seeking enthusiastic Ghost Hunters/ Paranormal Investigators to conduct ghost hunts for our guests at the famous Lizzie Borden House. Candidates must have an experience in paranormal investigation, as well as a proficient knowledge of ghost hunting equipment.”

That job description is one of a group of jobs posted on Indeed.com (see it here) by US Ghost Adventures, the owners of The Lizzie Borden House on Fall River, MA, which is the original house where the parents of Lizzie Borden were murdered by ax – an act Lizzie was famously accused of but ultimately acquitted. It’s now a bed and breakfast, a museum, the center of a local tourism boom and the alleged home of a number of ghosts, including Lizzie, her parents, their maid, the maid’s murdered cat and some kids. Your job as Ghost Hunter/ Paranormal Investigator would be to:

  • Greet all guests promptly at scheduled tour times.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of our facility and related topics.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of ghost hunting equipment.
  • Qualified candidates must be skilled in both customer service and public speaking.
  • Clearly and articulately provide information to guests in an engaging manner.
  • Answer any questions that the guests have.

Other than the “extensive knowledge of ghost hunting equipment,” that sounds like your normal tour guide job (US Ghost Adventures is looking for those too). However, the Ghost Hunter/ Paranormal Investigator must have 1 – 2 years of experience in paranormal investigation. This is obviously a job where you do more than point and say “Follow me” – candidates must have “excellent conversational skills with a knack for storytelling.” And, since anything can happen when you’re hunting for ghosts, they need “the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with improvisational skills.”

Can you deal with this?

Still interested? The pay is $15.00 – $25.00 per hour plus tips – that’s where knowledge and story-telling are important. If you’re looking to move up the Lizzie Borden ladder, US Ghost Adventures also has full-time jobs available for Assistant Manager ($36,000/year) and
Assistant Operations/Marketing Manager ($34,000-$36,000/year). US Ghost Adventures is turning Fall River into a big paranormal tourism spot with additional ghost tours to other historic locations, so this could be the start of something big. For more info, check with Indeed.com here or the Lizzie Borden House website.

Who needs waiting tables when you can give ghost tours?
