Joanne Puffett and Diane De-Groot were visiting the Eastbury Manor House in Barking, England, on August 30th when they decided to snap some photos outside of the building and what they captured was quite eerie. When the women walked around the back of the house, Joanne felt a sudden cold chill before taking several pictures and that was when the creepy figure seemingly appeared in the window.
What was so eerie was that the windows were all black and there wasn’t anything or anyone standing in them when they took the pictures. “They say a camera never lies,” Diane stated. “We didn’t see it when we were there, only after taking the pictures and looking at them.” “Eastbury Manor House definitely has an eerie feel to it.” The ghost, they said, looked like a sad girl looking through the window.
After doing some research on the building, the women claimed that they found a sketch online that resembled the face in the window. They also found out that several people had previously reported sightings of a ghostly girl with old-fashioned clothing who only appears to others females and possibly children.
When they were asked if their pictures were a hoax, Diane denied the claims, saying, “People should go themselves and take a picture. They might see it for themselves if they don’t believe it.” You can decide for yourself as the picture of the alleged ghost can be viewed here.
Built in the 1570s, Eastbury Manor House does have a reputation for being haunted. While the most prominent spirit is the young girl that has been spotted wandering around the building (specifically in the upper rooms), there are several other entities that roam the property which includes an adult female. In fact, it is said that there are five ghosts at that location. Some people have seen these spirits as quick flashes of light.
Additional paranormal activity associated with the property includes hearing the sounds of doors banging, as well as unexplained footsteps walking along the creaky floorboards.
Since there have been so many reports of unexplained activity happening at the Eastbury Manor House, it’s very possible that Joanne and Diane did capture the ghostly girl in their photographs. She apparently only shows herself to women and has been seen on numerous occasions in the house which makes the sighting quite plausible.
