Britain’s Most Haunted Hotel? Schooner Hotel Has at Least 60 Ghosts

Dating back to the 1600s when it was a coaching inn, the Schooner Hotel in Alnmouth, England, hosted numerous vagabonds, smugglers, and even murderers. With several reports of family massacres, suicides, and murders, the building certainly has a long and dark history. With many thousands of paranormal claims and at least 60 ghosts allegedly roaming around the halls and rooms, it’s not surprising that the Schooner Hotel has been referred to as the most haunted hotel in all of Britain.

Guests who have stayed in rooms 16 and 17 have reported seeing several ghostly apparitions standing at the end of the beds and outside of their rooms in the hallway. The spirit of a young boy has been witnessed in the hallway near these rooms and has been blamed for knocking on all of the doors down that specific corridor. A hidden door that connected rooms 16 and 17 was discovered, which may explain why there have been similar hauntings in both of these areas.

A very scary event involving room 20 happened when two employees watched a dark ghostly figure come out of that room and towards the fire doors that were located directly in front of it. The dark figure then turned to face the employees and began moving towards them before they ran away in fear. When the area was investigated immediately after the event, it was empty.

While most of the rooms in the hotel are said to have some type of paranormal activity, the most haunted one is said to be room 28. This room is associated with family massacres, suicides, and other murders. Guests who have stayed in this room have claimed to have felt massive amounts of fear in addition to feeling as if something ghostly was in the room with them. Some people have reported hearing the disembodied screams of a woman, while others have heard the sounds of children talking and crying.

Unexplained whispers, banging sounds, and knocking have been heard in rooms 28, 29, and 30. Furthermore, guests have experienced feelings of dread, sickness, and dizziness while in these rooms.

Additional paranormal activity at the hotel includes sightings of a ghostly maid on the stairs, and a soldier who wanders down the hallways.

With at least 60 spirits roaming around a hotel with just 32 rooms, that’s a lot of ghostly activity for one location. It would be pretty hard to find an area in the Schooner Hotel that is not paranormally active.
