Bizarre Cases of Encounters with Alien Robotic Entities

One idea that has gained momentum in recent years with regards to UFOs and aliens is that they might not be biological entities at all, but rather some sort of robots or probes sent across the vasteness of space. I have talked about this before on Mysterious Universe, and in many ways it seems to make sense. If this is true, then there are plenty of reports to show that at least some alien encounters are with robotic entities, and here are some of the strangest.

In 1965 we have a weird report given by radio announcer James Towsley, of station KEYL, in Long Prairie, Minnesota. The witness says that on October 23, 1965 he was driving along a remote stretch of Highway 27 at approximately 7 PM when he came around a bend and noticed a “rocket ship” planted right in the middle of the road, measuring around 30-feet tall and about 10 feet in diameter and resting upon a set of fins. Under this ship were several objects he described as looking like "tin cans," around 6 inches high and with little tripod like legs upon which they moved about. Towsley would describe his surreal encounter thusly:

They were standing in a big circle of light under the ship. I jumped out of my car and was going to knock one over but then they came at me. They came right up to the car. There were three of them. They had no eyes or anything. Just those tripod legs and the matchstick arms. They were like tin cans. The size of a beer can. I was going to grab one but then I figured that if they could stop my car and put out my lights they could do something awful to me. So we just stood there looking at each other and then they turned around and scooted back under the ship. The light was so bright I didn't see where they went. Then there was a high-pitched humming sound and the ship took off straight up. It went up about a quarter of a mile, stopped for a moment and then disappeared. When the lights on the bottom went out after it was up in the air, my car radio and lights came on - and my engine started without having to touch the starter. I drove 90 miles an hour back to Long Prairie to report what I saw, but I wondered if people would believe me. I was sure of two things - the rocket (it towered above the trees along the road) was a spaceship of some kind and the three objects that came out of it were creatures like nothing else in the animal world I've ever seen. They definitely were not people as I know them.

The report prompted police to investigate the area, where they found strips of an unexplained oil-like substance smeared across the road, but nothing else. What were these things and did they ever really exist at all? Another case comes from 1973, in the U.S. state of Alabama near the small town of Falkville. On October 17, 1973, a panicked woman called into police to report that she had seen a UFO land in a field right outside of town, and an incredulous police officer named Jeff Greenhaw went off to investigate, no doubt thinking that he was dealing with some nutcase. He arrived at the scene at around 10 PM, not really expecting to find much, and at first he didn’t. The field held no spaceship, nor any sign of one, but the lady who had called was frantically insisting that not only had a UFO really landed, but that there was an alien running around out there in the woods. Greenhaw thought that at the very least there might be in intruder prowling about, so he did a sweep of the area. Little did he know that this intruder would be far stranger than anything he had imagined. As he peered into the darkness and shone his flashlight about, he noticed someone standing off the side of the road, but when he looked in its direction he saw that this was no normal man. The figure seemed to be completely covered with some shiny substance that looked somewhat like tin foil, with an antenna on its head, and Greenhaw would even take a photo of it. He would say of the creature:

It looked like his head and neck were kind of made together... he was real bright, something like rubbing mercury on nickel, but just as smooth as glass; different angles give different lighting. I don't believe it was aluminum foil.

This figure seemed to move in a rather disjointed, mechanical way, giving the impression that it was almost robotic in nature, and wanting to see it in better light, Greenhaw trained his vehicle’s headlights on it. This apparently set the entity into a panic, and it ran off at great speed, after which Greehaw started up his car and pursued it right through a field. The officer went as fast as the terrain could allow, but the creature he had seen and was chasing was reportedly amazingly fast, far faster than any human, and he eventually lost it when it bolted off into some trees. In the days after his encounter, Greenhaw would come forward with his account, which would make him a laughing stock, the object of ridicule, and cost him his job.

Was this some sort of alien robot, perhaps used as a probe by its inscrutable handlers? It reminds me of a similar case of seemingly robotic aliens that is made all the odder in that it predates it by over 50 years. The bizarro case supposedly occurred in 1924, in Pasco County, in the state of Florida, and which was related in 1974 by an elderly witness named Evelyn Wendt, who claimed that this had happened to her when she was a girl. She said that she had been playing outside on the grounds of St. Joseph school when she had noticed an egg shaped object nearby that glowed so intensely and brightly that she had to cover her eyes at first, but it then supposedly suddenly dimmed to reveal some sort of saucer shaped metal craft. As she stood there staring wide-eyed at the strange sight, a small door suddenly opened to disgorge a procession of rather bizarre creatures, and Wendt would say of them thus:

Little people emerged. I think they were robots. I tried to count them, but they changed about so. They were smaller than I was and resembled animated flowers with faces where the bud would be.

These truly bizarre “robotic sunflowers” were apparently hoisting a sinister looking machine of some sort, which Wendt instinctively sensed was a weapon of some kind, and which they also seemed to be setting up to aim towards the school’s science building. It was at about this time that the witness claimed the entities communicated with her telepathically, telling her that they intended to destroy the science building because there were dangerous experiments going on in there behind closed doors. Bizarrely, they then suddenly changed their minds, and began to file back into the craft as they invited their human companion to come along. She refused, but they supposedly promised to come back for her in later years. Wendt would say of what happened:

They promised to come back for me in 35 years, but that was a long time ago and nothing happened that I know of. All I can remember now is that the saucer was leaden-looking and very pockmarked. Then, when it started up, its molecules expanded and it turned silvery bright. The UFO then went straight up, hovered a minute, and disappeared from sight.

UFO researchers in later years sought to bring out any other details through hypnosis, but Wendt proved impossible to hypnotize. Bizarrely, the science building of the school at one point was destroyed by unspecified means, leading one to think that maybe the robo-flowers had come back to finish the job. What in the world was going on here? Is this just a made-up delusion or is it at all real in any sense? If it really did happen, then what were these robotic flowers and why on earth did they want to blow up a junior high school’s science building? Who knows?

From 1975 onwards there are a plethora of cases shared with me from the files of UFO researcher Albert Rosales, with a whole array of such reports of robotic humanoids. Our first comes from July of 1975, near Logan, Ohio. The unnamed witness was allegedly in a rural area when he saw a massive metallic disk land in a field upon three thick cylinders holding it up. When the curious witness approached, he claimed to have seen a hulking “robotic-looking creature” with “bright lights on the top” standing motionlessly near the object and seemingly surveying the surroundings, as if acting as a sentry. It seems the frightened witness then got out of there, but later that night he reportedly was out with his dog when he heard a loud humming noise and turned to see a “softball size sphere hovering a foot from his face,” after which the object shot off at high speed and he lost consciousness.

From 1977 there are a few such bizarre reports. In January of that year, a 10-year-old witness was out hiking in a wooded area with her parents and cousin somewhere near San Juan de La Maguana, in the Dominican Republic. At some point, the witness and her cousin saw a “small robot-like figure” standing next to a tree and apparently waving at them, with each movement of its arm producing an odd clicking sound. As they got closer to the bizarre creature, they could see that is was fully metallic and had large round red eyes, but the adults with them, who were only 30 feet away, apparently did not notice it or could not see it. They drew even nearer and the witness tried to get her cousin to reach out and touch it, upon which the cousin started crying and ran away. The witness remained, but when she tried to approach further the “robot” vanished into thin air.

In July of 1977 we have a case from the region of Hacgedigi, Mersin, Turkey involving a witness named Mustafa Nar. On this hot summer night, Nar was sleeping outside when he was pulled from his sleep to look up and notice a saucer-shaped object like “two inverted plates placed together” floating above him. The object was described as having a metallic body that reflected the moonlight and completely smooth all over, free of any insignias, windows, doors, portals, or any seems at all. As Nar stared on in bewilderment, something caught his attention from the corner of his eye and he looked to see a metallic, robotic-looking humanoid figure with large eyes and “antenna-like protrusions” hovering nearby, just next to his house. The robot had no legs, but rather “a sort of metallic bobbin” that seemed to be blowing air towards the ground to kick up dust and leaves. In its chest was some sort of portal or hole that was emitting a loud buzzing sound, and this was all surreal and frightening enough that Nar ran into his house to lock the door. When he ventured to peek outside shortly after, the robot and its apparent craft were gone.

Moving on into the 1980s there is a July, 1987 account from Mondariz, Pontevedra, in Spain. On this afternoon, a communications technician called only “Andres” was about to head out on a work trip to the nearby town of Vigo, on the way picking up a colleague of his named “Carlos.” It was a pretty bizarre ride, because as they drove along, Carlos allegedly told Andres that he had been in contact with aliens, and that they could communicate with them by going up to a nearby mountain. They decided to go, arriving there as the sun went down, and after some time of waiting watching the sky noticed beams of light coming down to seemingly scan the ground, before a brightly lit object could be seen doing aerial acrobatics in the sky. As they watched the light show above it would get even weirder still. Albert Rosales writes in his translation of the account:

Moments later they began to hear a sound similar to ‘escaping gas’, this was followed by what appeared to be ‘flames’ descend from the nearby mountain and then what they described as luminous wheels flew over their position after this vanished, they suddenly saw at a distance of about 50 meters from their location an object shaped like a disc about 30 meters in diameter sitting on the ground. Next to the object stood a ‘robot-like’ being with a bright light on top of its head. After several hours of watching this spectacle a 3-meter tall being appeared, this humanoid had a large inverted pear-shaped head and moved in a clumsy mechanical manner and was wearing a whitish outfit. At dawn, the robot and the tall humanoid entered the landed object via a ramp-like protrusion, finally a fog-like mist enveloped the craft and it vanished. Immediately after this incident ‘Andres’ begins to see unidentified flying objects and to receive mental messages which he did not ‘understand’.

What was going on here? Who knows? From July of 1988 we have another bizarre report from Spain, this time from Logroño, La Rioja. On July 29 of that year, a truck driver who had been driving along the lonely dark roads all night through the rural area stopped to take a rest at a truck stop at around 3 a.m. At the time the place was practically abandoned, with only one other vehicle parked there. The witness drifted off to sleep, but was woken not long after by a bright light and humming sound. When he looked outside, he could see the driver of the other vehicle standing outside frantically pointing up at a “strange dark object” on the ground nearby. The two men tried to walk towards the object, but found they could not, as if there was an invisible barrier in their way, which they pushed at and said felt like “some type of gelatinous substance.” At that moment the object lit up and the witnesses could see two massive humanoid figures, metallic and green in color, which lumbered in a sideways motion while issuing a deep, rumbling humming sound. The two robotic entities then went behind the object, after which it lifted into the air, hovered for a moment, and then darted off into the night out of sight.

There are plenty of these sorts of surreal encounters going into the 90s as well. In August of 1992, there was apparently a mass sighting on the frontier between Azerbaijan and Armenia. At the time there was a war being fought there, and there were reports from both sides of the conflict of seeing humanoid robots that were metallic and stocky in appearance, as well as UFOs in the sky. These robotic entities allegedly appeared during intense battles, and a few of them were reportedly damaged or even destroyed in the cross fire, with the remains of some of them allegedly brought in to be studied. According to some reports, it was discovered that they were “biomechanical organisms or cyborgs.” It is unclear whatever happened to these purported remains.

In September of 1994, there is an account from Villa Palmeras, Santurce, Puerto Rico, where a witness woke in the middle of the night to see “two short gray-luminous figures” lurking about his bedroom. When he tried to move he found that he seemed to be paralyzed, only able to move his head slightly, but he was able to will his limbs to move again, which apparently frightened the figures and caused them to flee the room. For a moment, there was silence, and the witness might have even believed it had all been a sort of dream or hallucination, but then it would get stranger still. Rosales writes:

Suddenly a section of the ceiling became luminous and a type of movie screen became visible. Two figures now appeared on the screen; one of the figures was tall and was wearing a uniform, a metallic helmet, and what appeared to be epaulets on his shoulders. He was gray colored with large black slanted eyes. Behind this figure stood a huge wide entity resembling a metallic robot with an almost square head on top of massive shoulders. The tall figure communicated by using telepathy explaining to the witness that they only wanted to examine him, and his paralysis was totally accidental. After a few moments, the screen became smaller and disappeared.

One report that is incredibly weird supposedly occurred on the night of June 27 1997, when a witness in Helena, Montana, in the United States, woke up floating in the air above her bed as a “a white robot-like probe” bobbed about the bedroom shining a beam of light. As she tried to move she realized that her limbs would not follow her commands, and even as this terrifying realization hit her, this “probe” ejected some tentacle-like objects that snaked out to entwine about her head. After this, she found that she could telepathically communicate with the robot, and commanded it to let her go, to which it replied “Sleep. You will sleep.” Throughout this all, her husband was completely asleep on the bed below. Rosales writes of what happened next:

She was wide and awake and ‘argued’ back and forth with the robotic being, while she commanded it in the name of the Elohim and all angels to let her go. She seemed to be floating above her bed almost to the ceiling with seven probes that were making a strange hum attached to her head. This went on for some time as the mechanical voice kept saying, ‘Sleep…” Suddenly, a new voice starts to speak to the witness, a female non-robotic voice which calms the witness down. She then asks the voice why they are doing this to her and the voice says, “We have heard about what you did in Jordan (Montana) and we have come to see why you can operate on such a high frequency with your mind (The witness had participated in a search of a down plane outside Angela Montana, near Jordan and had located the plane only hours after the search, she was led to the area by the spirit of the dead pilot ‘she is a sensitive’). She then becomes very calm and loses track of time as the humming sound increases in her head. The female voice then informs her that they are finished the witness then asks what they found and the voice replies, “You are…a secret weapon.” Being a pacifist, the witness is very disappointed with the answer. Later she finds herself tuck back in bed with her husband still asleep next to her. She is concerned but goes back to sleep, still feeling paralyzed, later she wakes up convinced that it had been a bizarre dream but feeling very confused.

Even more recently is a case from June of 2001, when three villagers in the region of Usak, Turkey, were driving on their way to their farm one morning and their engine suddenly died. As they tried to figure out what was wrong with the vehicle they saw standing not far away a tiny robotic being only a little over 2 feet tall, wearing a shiny silvery outfit, yellow colored torso, and red boots. The witnesses apparently began to shout and throw rocks at the entity, upon which it rose into the air and flew off out of sight.

Finally, we have an even more recent case from July of 2016, in the area of Merseyside, England. On this afternoon, a local man called only “Steven” was out walking his dog when the animal began to yelp and growl at a low hedge between the road and farmland. The witness then reportedly heard a “rhythmical thumping sound like distant industrial machinery,” and could see a “metallic nightmare of a figure” around 8 feet tall stomping across the field towards him. It was described as having a “bucket-like head” and a greyish body that resembled a suit of armor. As this metal monstrosity lurched towards them, the terrified dog ran off and Steven ran off after it. When he looked back, he saw the hulking robotic thing standing there watching him and could now see that there was a massive craft, an estimated 100 feet in diameter, and which looked like “two deep bowls with their open rims stuck together” in the field behind it. Steven then turned his attention back to finding his dog, and when he looked back again both the craft and the robot were gone.

What are we dealing with here? It certainly makes sense that aliens might want to send robots across the sea of stars instead of their own biological forms for a variety of reasons. Robots would not need sustenance, and could be easily transported over the many years it would take to reach a new star system, with robots more able to withstand the rigors of space and the passage of time. The robots might even be the aliens themselves, having long usurped their biological creators to be the dominant race of their world. It almost makes sense that we might meet robotic aliens rather than the original creators. Whether any of these cases were examples of this or merely the creations of delusional minds or straight out hoaxes remains unknown, and they occupy their own very surreal corner of the UFO world.
