A roundup of mysterious, paranormal and strange news stories from the past week.
The most famous mermaid outside of movies and animation is the mummified Feejee (or Fiji) Mermaid that was put on display by P.T. Barnum at his Barnum's American Museum in New York in 1842 – the original was determined to be a human-made combination of a monkey’s upper body sewn to the bottom end of a fish, and many copies have similar origins; Paula and Dave Regan were walking on Margate Beach in Kent, England, when they came across yet another variation of the FeeJee mermaid – Paula described it to the media: “The head looked skeletal, but the back part - where the fishtail was - was soft and squidgy. It didn’t feel slimy or decomposed, but it was definitely strange”; some observers, both at the beach and looking at the photos, suspected it was a dead seal or a carved wooden figure from a boat, but no one seemed to have a definitive proof, so ‘mermaid’ was still in play. Based on its looks, Disney mermaids have no worries about losing their jobs for the next movie.
If you see a large glowing spiral in the sky, it probably isn’t an alien spaceship entering the atmosphere or a time traveler opening a portal in the sky, but that’s what many witnesses thought recently when they observed one such apparition at about 8 pm crossing the skis over Great Britain and eventually France and western Europe; The Met Office, Britain’s national weather service, and other space experts weighed in with the explanation that this was “likely to be caused by the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket” launched from Florida carrying a “national security payload to orbit” on a classified mission; the rocket released fuel over Great Britain, which froze in a glowing spiral shape because of the atmosphere, the rocket’s spin and the setting sun reflecting off it. Even when he has better things to do, Elon Musk continues to annoy skywatchers around the world.
If the Martians don’t kill the first humans to set foot on Mars (if they haven’t already, at least according to some conspiracy theories), the dust just might do the job for them, according to a study in the journal GeoHealth, which found that substances similar to that found in tiny particles of Martian dust cause disease in people on Earth; it can easily irritate the lungs and get absorbed into the bloodstream, where perchlorates, silica, nanophase iron oxides, gypsum, chromium, beryllium, arsenic, and cadmium can be life-threatening, carcinogenic and damaging to the pulmonary system; even worse, any astronauts needing care back on Earth have a long trip to survive as well, or must wait months for emergency personnel to arrive; experts say our current air filters, self-cleaning space suits and electrostatic repulsion devices are not sufficient to prevent these Martian dust particles from doing their damage. All of a sudden, your dusty office here on Earth doesn’t seem so bad after all.
If hostile aliens are planning to beat us to the punch and invade Earth before we infect their planet with our germs, a new study on the best places in the U.S. (sorry, the rest of the world) to survive such an invasion has been compiled and the state with the best chances for survival is Virginia because of its abundance of caves and other hiding places, military bases, scientific facilities and labs, health care professionals, and food providers; other safe-ish states are Alabama, Minnesota, Massachusetts, New York, Florida, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Alaska and Georgia; you’re in big trouble if you live in the least invasion-proof state of Nevada, followed by Idaho, Arizona, Nebraska, Oregon, Utah, Oklahoma, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Wyoming. Nevada gets a double whammy if you hit a million-dollar slot machine payout in Las Vegas an hour before the aliens invade.
Harald Malmgren was a senior advisor to John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard Nixon, and Gerald Ford, and after he passed away recently, his daughter, economist Dr. Pippa Malmgren, finally felt safe to reveal a story he shared with her about a missile test launch on October 25, 1962, in which a mysterious 'white orb' flew around the rocket after its launch; the missile was equipped with what Pippa described as 'an X-ray machine in the nosecone' that would use radiation to disable an incoming enemy nuclear missile; instead, it disabled the orb, which her father said the US Navy retrieved from the ocean; furthermore, Harald Malmgren told his daughter that these orbs were referred to as 'tagalongs' and were downed and retrieved more than once; he had earlier revealed that he had the highest level classifications and was once Informally briefed on "otherworld technologies" by the CIA's Richard Bissell, who had been in charge of the Skunkworks, Area 51 and Los Alamos; again, he was sworn to secrecy; more information can be read in his obituary and in the exclusive interview with his daughter. It’s a safe bet the recently released Kennedy files had nothing about this.
Mysterious orbs like the ones seen recently off the coast of Daytona Beach, Florida, are generally thought to be drones, even though witnesses of these orbs claim they emerged from the water and flew very close to the surface; that observation and video prompted some to speculate that a ‘mothership’ was positioned underneath the water to monitor activities of US Navy vessels in the area; no Florida or US government officials have commented on any of these UFO sightings. Is it time for a real Department of UFOs with a large enough staff to monitor and investigate these reports?
Iin celebrity paranormal news, Welsh actor Michael Sheen revealed a UFO encounter he had at age 12 in Port Talbot, Wales; he says he “saw something come along the edge of the mountain, off in the distance” and then “this light came out and then two lights behind it, and then three lights behind it... a sort of phalanx of lights coming from behind the mountain and floating out over the sea”; he says he wanted to tell someone but was afraid they would be gone by the time he got back so he watched them until they disappeared; that hasn’t stopped him from believing they were real and could have been aliens; he says, “What I believe is that we have no idea what’s going on. Everything that we understand is a working hypothesis, isn’t it? And we’re able to understand the world and process everything and move forward because we’ve got something that basically works. But the idea that it doesn’t have gaping holes in it seems ridiculous. So I am very open”. We saw The Gaping Hole open for The Gap Band and Hole.
Truckers driving deserted streets late at night see strange things, like Axel Gabriel Rizo Trejo, who was hauling 500 slaughtered pigs to a meat-packing plant in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, recently when he claims a girl suddenly appeared in the middle of Federal Highway 57 in front of him; he claimed the girl floated in the air so he swerved and lost control of his rig, ending up overturned on the side of the road and pinned in the cab; firefighters from Castaños and paramedics from the Monclova Rescue and Emergency Medical Group rescued him but neither they nor members of the National Guard Highway Division found any evidence of the girl and attributed the accident to the driver falling asleep at the wheel; locals disagree, noting that Federal Highway 57 has a history of ghostly sightings of girls, women and other apparitions both on the road and even inside vehicles. This sounds like a good reason to avoid dark, lonely freeways when you are alone in a driverless vehicle.
Howling is one of the methods of communication attributed to Bigfoot in the U.S., so an unusual and seemingly unidentifiable howl in England close to Woodcock Hill near St Albans, Hertfordshire, has the witness and recorder, UFO researcher Mark Christopher Hall , wondering if a UK version of Sasquatch is living in the vicinity of the top secret Home Office scientific research facility and Porton Down, a top secret defense facility; Lee says the sound resembles the howls of Bigfoot he’s heard in U.S. recording; to him, it’s some huge creature "a bit like a cross between a horse and a dog” or “a really really massive dog, like a cow-sized dog” which he speculates “could be some sort of weird cryptid"; while he concedes it could be from one of the research facilities, he’s asked locals to be on the lookout for anything suspicious. Will there be a cover-up if this Bigfoot turns out to be a long-lost member of the royal family?
David Grusch is proof that being a UFO whistleblower pays – he’s been hired by U.S. congressional representative Eric Burlison, a member of both the UAP Task Force and the House Oversight Committee, to advise him on issues related to unexplained anomalous phenomena (UAP) or UFOs for an initial four-month period; a retired U.S. Air Force Major, Grusch has testified that the Pentagon is operating a secret UAP retrieval program that has been kept hidden from lawmakers and the general public. If this becomes a trend, we could see people who have testified about the existence of UFOs and secret programs working in Washington as on-call Uber whistleblowers.
Government agencies in the U.S. are suffering from budgets cuts and being threatened with shutdowns, including some related to weather reporting, so Bigfoot researchers may want to appeal to their representatives to save the National Weather Service from such cutbacks after meteorologists from the NWS were doing a storm survey in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, and photographed a mysterious creature that looks to some like a Bigfoot crossing a field; the Pennsylvania Bigfoot Society says there have been multiple Bigfoot sightings in this general area in the past, and the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization ranks Pennsylvania in its top ten states for Sasquatch reports; while the National Weather Service admits the photo could be of a Bigfoot statue or cutout, a real cryptid can’t be ruled out, so be on the alert, especially along Messmore Road in Fayette County. And don’t forget to support the National Weather Service – its forecast is 90% stormy at the moment.
The YouTube channel OVNIS ACTUALES (Current UFOs) posted a video allegedly taken on February 23, 2025, during a thunderstorm in Tucumán, Argentina, which it claims shows a “UFO Mothership” refueling or charging up as it is illuminated by lightning bolts; while the commenters on YouTube generally agree it looks like a ‘mothership’, a closer look at still shots of the video make the cigar-shaped UFO seem to also resemble a lenticular cloud which is darker than the other clouds in the shot due to it being much closer to the camera and thicker in density; there is no additional information on the UFO or the storm, so the video is open to speculation. If aliens made it all the way here on electric power, why is Elon Musk still testing fuel-filled rockets?
A new paper by Italian researchers, who are led by Prof. Corrado Malanga from the University of Pisa and call themselves the Khafre Project, claims there is a vast underground network the size of a city beneath the Giza Pyramid in Egypt which they discovered using Synthetic Aperture Radar tomography – the images show massive vertical shafts, spiral staircases, pipelines that might be for a water system, and other structures buried more than 2,000 feet (610 meters) beneath the pyramid; the researchers suggest this could be the rumored Hall of Records (also known as the Halls of Amenti) of ancient Egyptian legends; renowned Egyptian archaeologist and former Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Dr. Zahi Hawass dismisses these claims as "nothing but fabrications propagated by individuals with no expertise in ancient Egyptian civilization or the history of the pyramids" because they provide "no scientific evidence"; radar expert Prof Lawrence Conyers from the University of Denver called the claims a “huge exaggeration” because the Synthetic Aperture Radar is beamed from a satellite and can’t penetrate through 2,000 feet of earth, let alone see things in such great detail. Lack of evidence is the real curse of the mummies.
On Alien Abduction Day (March 20), Lotty Luxe came forward on TikTok to tell her alien abduction experience, which she claims she first discovered when she once woke up with three perfectly aligned triangles on her forehead that were not pillow impressions but were “burnt into my forehead", an alteration she says is common among alien abductees; Luxe claims aliens commonly abduct humans when they are sleeping and they then conduct experiments on them, something she believes happened to her – an insight she gained through hypnosis, a procedure she recommends to anyone who suspects they have been abducted; Luxe says “lightworkers [those believed to have a higher purpose of bringing light], people who have had past lives as elemental beings and extra-terrestrial beings, starseeds [a variant of the belief in alien-human hybrids], or palladiums [people believed to provide protection or safety of something sacred]" are most susceptible to being abducted, an observation seconded by commenters on her video. Getting abducted is not a good alternative to getting a tattoo – just wait until you are 18 and don’t need your parents’ permission.
No week in paranormal news is complete without predictions from Nostradamus or one of the famous psychic’s modern wannabes, so here’s the latest news from Athos Salomé, a Brazilian seer who calls himself the Living Nostradamus for his forecasts of the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the Covid pandemic; Living Noz says he sees Elon Musk’s Neuralink experiments placing computer chips in human brains leading to Musk creating a “tool for interacting with alien intelligences or other civilizations” and that he is preparing us for “unprecedented contact with extraterrestrial intelligences”; the question is whether this is Musk’s true intent or whether he will just accidentally stumble upon this human-alien brain link. It will be just our luck to end up as intergalactic garage door openers for aliens.
It is often the case that a spirit haunting a house is found by paranormal investigators to be a past resident of the place, so a woman in the village or Churt in Surrey, England, who felt she was being watched in her empty barn and saw a mysterious man standing in front of her furnace, believed it to be former British Prime Minister David Lloyd George, who once owned the house and was prime minister during six tumultuous years during World War I and the independence for the Irish Free State in 1921; investigators from the TV show ‘Help! My House is Haunted’ were called in and determined there really was a previous resident haunting the house, but it was Lloyd George – the ghost belonged to a murderer from the 1700s named Edward who unceremoniously marked his discovery by telling the TV paranormal investigators to ‘f*** off’. Edward apparently didn’t learn any diplomacy while haunting the house during the ownership by Lloyd George.
Ventriloquists may fear for their livelihood after hearing the news from Penn State where a team of researchers have developed a way to create pockets of sound that can be targeted at a specific location and sent there on a weaving and curving path without interference from obstacles, thus allowing a voice to be sent to a single individual in a crowd; lead author Jiaxin Zhong, an acoustics researcher at Penn State, calls it “a virtual headset" which will allow "someone within an audible enclave can hear something meant only for them — enabling sound and quiet zones"; the technique uses “two ultrasound transducers paired with an acoustic metasurface, which emit self-bending beams that intersect at a certain point” so that “the person standing at that point can hear sound, while anyone standing nearby would not”. What? WHAT?
TikTok has long been the preferred means of communication for alleged time travelers and now an ‘interdimensional messenger’ has adopted the platform to distribute communications she receives from an alien civilization - Emily Eaton (@divinemagick) claims she gets messages from an alien named Eronus, a high-ranking member of the Galactic Federation (the alliance of extraterrestrial civilizations in the Milky Way) warning that “In the coming weeks, people will begin to notice unusual sights in the sky—spheres and ships hovering in plain view. We plan to station our capital ships over lakes, oceans, and mountains, positioning them strategically to prepare for a grand revelation. This is the first step toward unveiling the truth to the entire world”; she also hears from Frist, a representative from the “Council of Five” in the Galactic Federation, who warns these ships may cause “temporary overloads in the airspace” over Earth. Ask Eronus if we should believe any of those TikTok time travelers.
