Episode 314 – Mysterious Universe Plus+

Apr 17th in Plus+ Podcasts by

We revisit the FBI vault releases and discover the now infamous Hottel document was released decades ago and isn’t exactly water tight, yet the files on Cattle Mutilations are raising some eyebrows due to their proximity to Dulce, New Mexico.

The latest episode of Fact or Faked gets a well deserved grilling after their abysmal “investigation” of David Eckhart’s home, and we look at a 1983 classic on the Men in Black that has recently been reprinted.

Show notes, music, and books after the jump.

The cattle-mute files were also declassified years ago. I obtained the ones at the FBI’s new Vault site on the mutes back in 1989, and published them in my 1998 book, The FBI Files.

There was a fascinating documentary on Barker called Shades of Gray (I streamed it on Netflix). It was pretty good. It makes it hard to look at Barker as more than a showman selling his own fantastic stories without regard to fact or reality. Then again perhaps the documentary is a disinformation video by those pesky MIBs. I will reserve judgment till there is a Fact of Faked episode…. 0-:

I was a bit behind but finally got around to watching the Fact or Faked bit on David Eckhart. Would buffoonery be the correct word to describe the antics of the investigators? I hope Eckhart was decently compensated for this waste of his time.

I recently went back and listened to Eckhart’s first two interviews with Ben and Aaron and I reread the comments by listeners and by Lon Strickler, of Phantoms and Monsters. It’s all very interesting and David is a smart guy and a good story teller, but I’m still not convinced I should believe his story more than any of the others we’ve heard. Sure, he’s not the Dolphin-hybrid-black-ops warrior, but he doesn’t offer a lot more than the Rambo-Flipper we all love to hate.

His physical proof is spotty at best. The mirror-strobe-light-laser-flashlight videos, while cool, are far from being definitive. It’s the same with the smoky still photos of reptilian faces. I think a clear argument could be made for many of these being cases of pareidolia, lens flare and wrong shutter speed.

His other physical evidence consists of etchings on a futuristic egg device he managed to copy down on paper and then spirit away during an experience and mathematical mumbo-jumbo he’s channeled from the beings. I wish instead of copying the ruins he would have snatched something a little more otherworldly. Instead, the physical evidence is all very unsubstantial.

What we have left is his story. It’s fantastical, scary and entertaining but also disjointed, outrageous and confusing.

His tales are a mishmash of every alien inspired conspiracy theory ever told. There are reptilians, grays, military collusion and experiments. There are stargates, visitations, missing time, abductions, secret government personnel and medical procedures. It’s as you’ve said before about David Icke and others, “it’s like he’s throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks.”

In one interview he says the visitors are eventually going to reveal something important to him that has to do with the future of humanity. Will it be a warning about nuclear war and a suggestion that we upgrade our vibrations?

I joke, but it wouldn’t surprise me. Still The Fact of Faked confirmed that Eckhart wasn’t lying…again I joke. But for real, in an earlier Lon Strickler comment on your Web site he states that the Eckhart experiences are being investigated by

“a impressive esoteric and theoretical group…who have been astounded at what has been achieved. I cannot say who these individuals are but will say some have intelligence / RV / PsyOps backgrounds. I wouldn’t make that statement unless it were fact.”

Although I’m not convinced of Eckhart’s strange exploits, I will enjoy whatever stories he continues to tell and hold ultimate judgment until Strickler’s paranormal warriors offer up more information.

Keep up the good work guys.
