Interesting piece on the acceleration of sports performance. Made me think of some F1 stuff.

Ayrton Senna qualified a mammoth 1.5 seconds ahead of his great teammate Alain Prost at Monaco in 1988. He later said that he’d got to the point where he realized that he was no longer consciously driving the car.

Bruce McLaren set the record for youngest GP winner in 1959, the record was finally broken in 2003 and 2008. The record for the youngest champion had been held since 1972. It was then broken in 2005, 2008 and 2010.

Kids these days… Awesome show as ever – cheers!

Wow Aaron! And I thought I was the only one who developed a taste in music later in life. Prior to junior high I had zero interest in it, and only began to have records of my own on account of Secret Santas at school, not because I deliberately bought them.

Actually that’s not entirely true, since I recall that the only music I kinda enjoyed as a kid was Classical. It was only after high-school that I really began to look at more contemporary stuff.

Related to the rocket cats, the Russians in WWII trained dogs strapped with bombs to run under tanks. The problem was they trained them on their own tanks and when deployed the dogs just ran to those rather than the unfamiliar German ones. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-tank_dog
