Mysterious Universe

Today, July 17, and tomorrow, July 18, the universe takes another step closer to…something…the beginning of the end? The end of the beginning. The dead end or the awakening? I guess we’ll all just have wait until December 21, 2012 to find out.

However, if all goes well today and tomorrow at least some of us may have an inside track on what’s going to happen on that fateful date.

If, like me, you have a passion for the mysterious and unknown, I suggest you gaze up at the sky tonight and direct your attention towards the Moon, for this eerier glowing satellite is one of the greatest mysteries known to humankind.

Exactly how the Moon was formed has yet to be adequately explained by science, due in part to a lack of knowledge concerning the structure and origin of its mantle. However, thanks to data recently obtained by the Japanese probe Kaguya, which was placed in orbit around the Moon from November 2007 to June 2009, scientists think they’ve found an important piece of the puzzle.

It looked like something right out of a 1950′s horror flick, only this little booger was real; and in this instance, when I say “booger” I don’t mean a ghost or hobgoblin. I mean an actual booger… as in mucus.

The video went viral right after a sewage company captured the strange “creature” using a small remote camera, sent down into a pipe network beneath a small shopping center near Raleigh, North Carolina. What they filmed startled them; a strange, brain-like, quivering thing which retracted with haste every time the camera drew near. The web was in an uproar over the North Carolina “blob”, with excited talk about “a new species” popping up in various locales. What was the strange “sewer monster” they had filmed?
